Finding Heroes in the Unexpected: How Orcs Became the Stars of My Game

Orcs Rising: Time Has Come

Hey everyone!

Today I want to talk about how I came up with the story for my upcoming game, Orcs Rising: Time Has Come. It's been a long journey, with lots of twists and turns, but I'm excited to share it with you.

First off, I knew I wanted to make a real-time strategy game that focused on unique stronghold sieges. But I didn't want to just do another medieval fantasy game where humans and elves are the heroes and orcs are the villains. I wanted to flip the script and give the orcs a chance to shine.

As I thought about it more, I realized that orcs are often portrayed as brutish and bloodthirsty, but what if they were actually fighting for a noble cause? What if they were trying to free the world from corruption and tyranny, even if it meant going against their own kind?

I started to see the orcs as the underdogs, the rebels, the ones who were fighting for what was right, even if it was difficult or unpopular. And that's when the story of Orcs Rising really started to take shape.

Of course, I didn't want the story to be too heavy-handed or preachy. I wanted it to be a fun, exciting adventure that players could enjoy, with plenty of battles, heroes, and surprises along the way. But I also wanted it to have some deeper themes and messages that would resonate with players, especially in the current climate of our world.

Ultimately, I'm really happy with where the story is going, and I think it will be a big asset for the game. I hope that players will enjoy playing as the orcs, and that they'll find some inspiration and hope in the story created.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more updates on Orcs Rising!

Best,
Benybens
